Our Mission

Associated Vision Consultants is a group of specialty, fellowship-trained and experienced ophthalmologists who provide diagnostic, medical, laser and surgical care for a wide variety of vision threatening disorders. We perform consultation and second opinions or assist in the care of patients referred by other physicians. We also provide initial evaluation and continuing care to patients who come to AVC for their eye care. AVC doctors work closely with other local specialists to meet the needs of those patients who require additional management for LASIK, Refractive surgery, and Cornea surgery, Oculoplastic surgery, Neuroophthalmology, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Low Vision Services. Our physicians and staff appreciate your trust with the precious gift of sight, and will do our best to deliver the finest eyecare possible.

Your Office Visit

An initial, comprehensive consultation with one of our physicians can take from one to three hours, depending on the complexity of the problem and special diagnostics, if needed. New patients are asked to complete a medical history form, including past medical conditions, prior surgeries, as well as current medications and allergies. It is helpful for new patients to bring a list or bottles of any medications prescribed by other doctors. Usually dilating drops are used to a complete examination. Those patients who do not wish to drive while dilated should make arrangements for someone to come along or provide them with transportation. Following the examination, your doctor will thoroughly review the diagnosis and proposed treatment with you. A report will also be sent to the referring doctor.

Procedures and Surgery

Most laser and minor surgical procedures are conveniently performed in our Southfield office. Patients who require more extensive surgery, will be scheduled by our staff in one of the modern outpatient ambulatory surgery centers staffed by our doctors, or hospitalized if this is necessary. Please see the Services pages of this web site for a comprehensive list of procedures. Follow-up visits will be scheduled in our offices as needed.

Emergencies

Our physicians can always be reached by calling our office or through our 24-hour answering service at the same number. Feel free to contact your doctor at any time you have a question or problem. Due to our complete facilities, most problems can be treated in the office without the need for emergency room or hospital visits.
